Angličtina I: Marie Pavlů: Overcoming speaking anxiety
This practical seminar will explore the causes of foreign language speaking anxiety and offer evidence-based strategies for helping learners overcome it. Through short interactive activities and discussion, strategies will be presented for building a supportive classroom climate that promotes confidence, communication, and enjoyment in speaking English.
Marie Pavlů works for Oxford University Press as an Educational Consultant. She studied Teaching English as a Second Language at the Faculty of Education at Palacký University in Olomouc and continued by study stays and internships in the USA, Germany and Luxembourg. She has taught English at various schools and as a freelance teacher, and also has extensive experience in subtitle and marketing translations.
Angličtina II: Martina Holková: Connect with Nature: English lessons outdoors
Teaching teenagers outside the classroom – whether in a school garden, park, or forest – is not only fun, but also a great way to boost everyone’s energy and well-being. Being in a green environment allows us to play, move, and interact in fresh, exciting ways. In this session, you’ll explore activities that enhance vocabulary and speaking skills, while also discovering the concept of reconnection: with yourself, each other, and nature. If there is no rain, the session will take place outdoors.
Martina Holková is a passionate educator with nearly 20 years of teaching experience, including work at a lower secondary school, language schools, and Masaryk University. At NaZemi, she specializes in global education and trains teachers in critical thinking. Martina is currently leading the Nature’s Allies project, which aims to inspire teachers to teach outdoors.
Cambridge Stage: Benjamin Herbert: Developing Writing Skills at B2 and Beyond
While the ability to speak a second language is likely to remain a dominant need for learners, the ability to write effectively in a second language is becoming increasingly important. Because of the need of our learners to become more effective writers, this presentation delves into strategies for enhancing writing skills at the B2 level and beyond, equipping teachers with the tools to help students communicate effectively across various genres. Teachers will explore the purpose and significance of writing in language learning, whilst also identifying practical, classroom-ready activities and techniques that aid in developing students’ writing abilities.
Benjamin Herbert has been a teacher for over 14 years and has worked in the Czech Republic, Jordan, Libya, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. He has experience teaching nearly all age groups and abilities in a range of contexts including state and private language schools. In addition to this, he has also worked as a teacher trainer and has an interest in materials development.

Angličtina I: Radka Malá: A Teacher’s Second Brain: Mastering Time Management and Organisation
Do you control your time, or does time control you? In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore both digital and traditional tools to organise your teaching materials. Imagine never having to check homework again! Learn to work effectively in your teaching kitchen, and discover which of your teaching materials should go in the fridge, which to the freezer, and which are just fine in the pantry. Take home a collection of my favourite ready-to-use activities for teens and leave equipped with a ‘second brain’ that will reclaim your time and allow you to focus on what you’re best at: teaching.

As a teacher trainer and conference speaker, she follows the same principles as a language teacher; activate your students, make the session meaningful and have fun!
Angličtina II: Vladimíra Skopcová: Effective Feedback – Powerful Influence on Learning
Feedback is a key part of the learning process. Feedback is more than just correcting mistakes. It can be both formative and summative, and there are many techniques that teachers can use in the classroom.

Angličtina I: Vladimíra Skopcová: Teaching Unplugged Ideas to Enhance our Coursebook-Based Classes
Teaching Unplugged is a student-centred approach introduced by Scott Thornbury. And since its key principles are all the important ingredients of a communicative lesson such as engagement, interactivity, empowerment, relevance etc. it is definitely worth a closer look. This practical workshop will introduce some activities and ideas that can be used in the classroom to add some of the above mentioned to your lessons.
Angličtina II Radka Malá: Think Visual, Think Wild, Think Gen Z
They’re sooo different. What happens when Gen X meets Gen Z? Why might your classroom look a bit wild (at the best of times)? And is there a way to coach Gen Z to their full potential? Using Wider World 2nd edition as our primary source of this practical workshop, we’ll try out some simple ideas for ourselves, so get ready for some running, lots of visuals and a bit of detective work.
Cambridge Stage: Benjamin Herbert: Building the Speaking Skill
With the communicative approach’s focus on a functional syllabus, the speaking skill has naturally become more prominent in the classroom. And yet, what kinds of speaking really goes on in today’s class and why do students struggle so much with this skill? The answer may lie in the kinds of the spoken language we teach, the tasks that we present to learners and the environment in which speaking takes place. In this workshop, we will discover the fluency aids and communicative strategies that a successful user can count on. Moreover, we will establish five key criteria for speaking tasks: productivity, purposefulness, interactivity, challenge and authenticity. Lastly, we will focus on the teacher’s role in guiding students to develop their speaking through the building of a safe speaking environment.
